Dividend income September 2023

The tides have turned from earlier this year where the market was climbing higher each month. September was a significant draw down for me. Not only did stocks go down but in late September the SEK has rallied a lot. Even if it affects my portfolio negatively I want to se USDSEK lower so that I can finally start buying new US stocks again.

Rates have risen in September as CB's are all signaling higher for longer and some are still going to hike rates. Inflation seems to be coming down a bit however so that might change things.

In terms of dividends it's a more positive note than the markets as I beat the record from previous September.

I received a total of SEK 7,038.09 in dividends in September. An increase of 11.9% compared to last year.

Reinvested dividends and effect on yearly dividend: SEK 84.08

Dividend income August 2023

August has passed and I have already passed the total amount of dividends received last year, and there's still four more months to go this year. I will 100% reach my goal for the year of 100k dividends received. I read through my December 2022 post and I thought there would be a recession and a lot of dividend cuts. So far that has not been the case, except for in the building and real estate sector in Sweden.

August was the first time this year that I had a negative month performance wise. Most of it actually comes from Swedish stocks going down. This was countered by Nvidia continuing to go up. I feel my portfolio is very heavy weighted in that stock now and I would not be surprised if there will be a correction that will hit my portfolio quite hard. Their last report showed they are still crushing it though.

In regards to dividends it's another record month. Dividends increased by quite a lot, mostly thanks to a surprise dividend from Activision Blizzard but also the fact that Telia now has quarterly payouts.

Macro is looking like we are on the very edge of when central banks will start to pause hikes and starting to cut. Sweden looks a bit different, we really need to increase rates to combat the weak SEK, that in itself is causing us to import a lot of inflation from other countries. The problem is that all the real estate companies and ordinary people are so leveraged that it will hit the economy hard. Also raising rates causes inflation to increase just from interest related expenses. Still I believe the Riksbank will raise rates to combat the weak SEK as that is the major cause driving Swedish inflation at this point.

I have been thinking if I should make the dividend reinvestments a separate post or if it should just be included in these monthly posts. I will include it these posts for now as I don't think they will be particularly much to write about in such a post.

I received a total of SEK 2,971.89 in dividends in August. An increase of 69.5% compared to last year.
