Reinvesting Danske Bank dividend (3)

In combination with their second quarter report Danske Bank surprisingly declared a dividend of 7 DKK. Maybe it was not that surprising when you consider how much money they are making and now that the money laundering scandal is almost behind them. There were talks of quarterly dividends this spring but then the banking crisis hit in the US and they cancelled their dividend. I hope they will now start to pay out quarterly dividends going forward.

I think this will be the last time I post a reinvesting post for now. I feel like there are just to many such posts to write and it clogs the blog. Going forward I will either include it in my monthly post or make a separate monthly post with reinvestments, detailing reinvested number of stocks, dividend received and the effect on yearly dividend.

Reinvesting Altria dividend (6)

I have now reinvested 10% more stocks in Altria just from dividends. I will need to reinvest about 30 more to be able to buy 3 stocks each dividend, that will happen in about 4 years. I was hoping it would happen sooner, which it probably will. It depends on how big the dividend growth will be over the next coming years. It's been a bit over 4% last two years so that would speed things up. As always slow and steady wins the race in investing, or at least I feel it does. But we always have to combat that with our wanting to get rich fast.

Reinvesting Thomson Reuters dividend (1)

I wasn't sure if I was going to label this as a reinvestment or not. Thomson Reuters has been one of my best investments the last 5 years. They did a return of capital this year and a small reverse split. I had 56 stocks and went down to 53. I wanted to reinvest the dividend but I felt I might as well buy some extra stocks to even out the holding, so I did.

Reinvesting Yara dividend (3)

Yara had an incredible year last year. I am thinking about increasing my position but I am not sure if last year was just an outlier and they will go back to "normal" revenues again. It depends on how the Ukraine conflict goes and if western countries start to buy Russian fertilizer again.

I'm don't know what dividend rate I should use to calculate the yearly effect as I don't think they will pay out this much next year as well, but I still used this years dividend anyway.

Reinvesting Veteranpoolen dividend (2)

Reinvesting dividend from Veteranpoolen. It's not been performing well since I bought it last year and they lowered their dividend this year. A recession would I believe not be great for them but over time they have demographics on their side.

Reinvesting Boliden dividend (2)

Boliden continued their tradition of paying out a bonus dividend this year as well. This week they flagged for a loss in the Q2 so it's not looking great at the moment. Unlucky I bought the shares before this news broke.

Could this be early warning signs of a recession? Mining are some of the first ones to be hit I believe, as companies start to decrease their need for raw materials in anticipation of what's to come.

Should I stop posting each reinvestment separately and just do a combined post for each month about how many and what the effects are? It feels like there was such a flood of these posts this spring, it's cluttering the blog. Coming months are not as affected by this issue.

Reinvesting SBB dividend (15)

Last time reinvesting dividend in SBB for a while, maybe ever. The stock has been completely crushed but did a small comeback after the CEO change. I don't know if SBB will survive, I have my doubts. It might be sold or split up and some of the parts taken over by other companies. It's very interesting to see how fast a stock can go from being super hyped to completely trashed in almost a year.

I bought a few extra shares to get me to a round even number, since I won't be buying more anytime soon, unless they do a rights issue maybe.

Reinvesting SinterCast dividend (7)

There was a lot of talk about SinterCast going to beat their record in Q2 but they fell short of expectations. This made the stock price fall but made me able to buy a few more stocks when reinvesting. It really feels like SinterCast is the turtle of the stock market, slow and steady wins the race.

Reinvesting Kinder Morgan dividend (8)

Steadily able to buy four new stocks for the KMI dividend each time now. The time it will take to start buying five new ones will be a lot shorter than from three to four thanks to compounding effect and also dividend increases.

Reinvesting SBB dividend (14)

Well SBB has now imploded quite literally. They have suspended their monthly dividend payout from June and they also did it on their SBB D shares. According to Swedish law they cannot withdraw dividends that have already been agreed so as far as I understand they will pay out a lump sum next year for the remaining dividend amount.

It felt like this had to happen as they are in deep trouble with their liquidity. Hopefully they can sell off some of their real estate to keep the company from going bankrupt. The 100 year dividend didn't last long at all. Luckily for me I don't have that much exposure to real estate in Sweden, unlucky that I bought into it too early last year. I think Castellum will weather this storm and come out on the other side and start paying dividend again in a year or two. SBB I'm not as sure, it depends on if they survive.

Why did I reinvest the dividend? Because I stick to my strategy of buy and hold and reinvesting dividends.
